SDDC DOD Military Freight Management Bond
DoD military freight performance bond — up to $100,000
Transportation service providers that haul Department of Defense freight must file a separate performance bond with ARTRANS (SDDC). FMCSA BMC-84 bonds are not accepted for military freight registration.
An SDDC / DoD military freight performance bond is the federal surety ARTRANS requires before a transportation service provider (TSP) can register to haul Department of Defense freight. It guarantees the carrier, broker, forwarder, or logistics company will perform on tendered military shipments — covering default, abandonment, or bankruptcy, not routine service issues.
Amount, premium, term, and the authority that requires this filing.
Any TSP seeking or holding ARTRANS carrier registration to move DoD freight needs a performance bond separate from FMCSA broker authority.
Issue the performance bond on an approved Treasury-listed surety form, then have your agent email bond details to ARTRANS carrier registrations. FMCSA BMC-84 filings do not satisfy this requirement.
Match broker/forwarder/logistics ($100,000) or motor-carrier tier by number of states you will serve under your SCAC.
Use Apply on this page for the SDDC DOD Military Freight Management Propeller class. Underwriting confirms the penal sum up to $100,000.
Have your surety agent email bond data to usarmy.scott.artrans.mbx.carrier-registrations@army.mil with your SCAC and carrier name in the subject line. Keep the bond continuous and renewals current.
No. ARTRANS requires a separate DoD performance bond for military freight. FMCSA BMC-84 broker bonds are not accepted.
Brokers, surface freight forwarders, and logistics companies are set at $100,000 because of traffic volume handled by those modes.
ARTRANS accepts bond data by email only. Your surety agent sends bond number, amount, dates, continuous-bond statement, surety name, and agent contact to usarmy.scott.artrans.mbx.carrier-registrations@army.mil.
Yes. Each Standard Carrier Alpha Code requires its own separate, continuous performance bond.
Default, abandoned shipments, and bankruptcy where the TSP cannot or will not deliver tendered DoD freight. It does not cover operational disputes such as late delivery or cargo damage claims.
